The Lilian Piercey Concert Hall (above) is now the main performance venue for the St. Cecilia Concert Series.
This space is the first completed step in the restoration of the home of the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts.
The building has a dramatic history. The old Chebucto Road School was built in 1910 and was declared a heritage building, due to the role it played in the aftermath of the Halifax Explosion in 1917.
After many years as a public school, the building served as a home to the Halifax City Schools Music Department.
As part of an ongoing restoration, the MCPA has completed upgrading the concert hall on the second floor. The result is a beautiful performance venue with sloping audience floor, modern lighting and lively acoustics.
The Lilian Piercey Concert Hall is on the 2nd floor of the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts, 6199 Chebucto Road, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
