‘It’s a Grand Night for Singing… at Home!’
Program includes a ‘bouquet’ of Springtime Favourites’
Featuring two of Nova Scotia’s most talented musical vocal artists, Allison Angelo and Tracy Reynolds.
Joining Angelo and Reynolds on stage are tenor Joseph Angelo and ‘collaborative pianist’ Andrea Grant.
Hailed as “A fabulous discovery” by the Toronto Star’s John Terauds, Canadian soprano Allison Angelo is emerging as a talented and versatile young singer who is rapidly gaining recognition on the operatic and concert stage. Halifax audiences, who’ve known her as Allison Bent, will recall her vocalizing from the local stage and the International Tattoo.
Mezzo-soprano Tracy Reynolds, originally from Liverpool is also well on her way to an exciting performance career. Tracy Reynolds studied at Acadia University with Marie McCarthy. Her repertoire extends from Mozart to Kurt Weill.
Toronto-born tenor Joseph Angelo began his career as a Chorister at St. Michael’s Choir School, later graduating from the University of Toronto. This season he has appeared with Toronto Operetta Theatre and workshopped the role of Seth in Colin Mack & Sharon Singer’s ‘Isis and Osiris’.
Andrea Grant is a full time member of the music staff at the University of Toronto’s Opera Division and a faculty member at the Banff Centre. Her career encompasses international stages and she has been heard in recital on CBC, BBC and RTE, Radio Ireland.
‘It’s a Grand Night for Singing’ is, of course, taken from ‘State Fair’ by Rodgers and Hammerstein. It leads off a program which includes Mozart, selections of Debussy songs, Harry Somers’s ‘The Owl and the Pussycat’ and a bouquet of Richard Rodgers’ songs.
